Chevy Classic Club of Bakersfield is one of the oldest car clubs in Bakersfield that has been active continuously since 1976. In 1977 the Club affiliated with the “Classic Chevy International” organization in Titusville, FL. It is not necessary to own a classic Chevy but need to have a dedicated interest in preserving and promoting classic Chevrolets. Club is open to 1949 thru 1972 Chevrolets vehicles.
In 1979 the Club hosted its first Annual Car Show and Fun Day. The Car Show is held on the 3rd Sunday in October and we just hosted the 34th annual show. Since 2008 the club presents an award in honor of a beloved member, Joe Boren, that is open to all car enthusiast. Applications for the Car Show and Joe Boren award will be on BCCC website when available. Over the years most of the net proceeds from the car show have gone to a wide variety of Kern County charities. The past several years our main charities have been Bakersfield City/Kern County Firefighters Burn Foundation, M.A.R.E., Honor Flight Kern County, and other local charities.
Today Chevrolets Limited of Bakersfield club has about 15 families that are active members.
Members have come and gone over the years but the club has continued to survive. In order to increase club membership recently the club voted to open membership to 1949-1972 Chevrolets in correlation with the Classic Chevy International guidelines.
The club meets the first Thursday of each month (except October and December) at Tony’s Pizza, 4750 Coffee Rd. at 7:00 p.m. Come and join us or if you would like more information contact a club member or the Bakersfield Car Club Council.
