The 2010 Bakersfield Car Club Council Super Cruise 14 was held on Saturday, February 13, in conjunction with the annual Central Valley Sportsman, Boat & RV Show at the Kern County Fairgrounds. The weather was beautiful this year and the Super Cruise event brought out over 170 vehicles. This year’s event featured several vendors including Scentsy candles, Route 66 collectibles and Performance Auto. Event was DJ’d again this year by Marlin Brothers/Leroy Kelly. Special thanks to the Studebaker Drivers Club for putting on the Raffle, Super Raffle and 50/50, to PT Cruisers for handling the Poker Walk, to OFCC for handling Registration, to OFOB for handling parking and to Berge for providing the BBQ’d tri-tip sandwiches and hot dogs. Without the involvement of the BCCC car clubs, this event would not be able to happen. Several clubs like Vintage Ltd. Street Rods not only purchased a Merchant plaque or two but also brought out raffle gifts and Super Raffle gifts. Then there were individuals like Lynn Hubbard and Roy Romagno who also got involved and donated several raffle gifts. Fred Evenson drove out a brand new Ford truck on behalf of Jim Burke Ford who also was a sponsor of the event. Both Hubbard and Evenson are past BCCC Spokespersons who have stayed active to support this worthwhile Super Cruise event year after year.
Special thanks to our 2010 Super Cruise major event sponsors: B.E.M.R. (Bakersfield Electric Motor Repair)/Skip & Patty Langston; Phyllis Culp; H & S Body Works & Towing; Roy Romagno; and, Fabrications by Addington. Event sponsors include: O.F.C.C. of Wasco; Nikkel Iron Works; Jim Burke Ford; Norman Wireline Services, Inc.,; Model A Ford Club of America, Bakersfield Chapter; and, Frito Lay. A special donation came from the Kern County Model T Club.
Although the official check presentation will not take place until the April BCCC meeting (April 12th at the Society for Disabled Children on Brundage Lane), we know we will be donating over $10,000 this year to the Society for Disabled Children of Kern County. Thanks for all those who came out to participate to help us raise this amount!! It is your continued support that helps the Society conduct their annual Camp Blue Jay every summer up in Tehachapi in mid-July for two weeks. It means so much to these kids to have this experience!!
